Thorns - we don't like thorns. Lots of flowers have thorns - roses, several types of vines, a number of flowering shrubs, and succulents. Most of these have beautiful flowers but they also have thorns.

Why thorns? Why do we have to have thorns?

Thorns and thistles were introduced into the world because of sin. They were part of the punishments in Genesis 3:18.

Just before thorns were introduced to the world, Jesus was promised to the world (Genesis 3:15). The cycle was completed when a crown of thorns was placed on Jesus' head while He was on the cross. Jesus took our punishment (thorns) and overcame death so we can be reconciled to God as Adam and Eve were before the thorns.

What are your thorns? What is keeping you from reconciliation with God? Whatever it is, Jesus has already overcome it. God wants you back. Let Him handle the thorns!
